Kota Padawan or commonly known as, the 10th Mile by the locals is no ordinary town because of its booming food business especially at night. There are three open air food centres located near SJK Chung Hwa which offer mainly local Chinese food. On top of it, for those looking for a more private and classy surrounding cafe, it is recommended to dine in at Blessings Cafe near 688 Superstore.

I didn’t have the chance to speak to the owner regarding the cafe but listening to his English accent, I think he’s a foreigner married to a local lady, whom I overheard spoke in Bidayuh to a customer before.

The cafe is beautifully design to suit couples and families who wish to enjoy good food and unwind themselves with relaxing music from the 90s and below. The choice of food is just nice for my appetite because they have Asian and Western cuisines.

Do not worry about the price as it’s reasonably set and affordable as compared to any other cafes I had been to. A short waiting time is guaranteed. That’s why I am a regular customer to this cafe. On the night I decided to blog about this cafe, I ordered these food. I guess, you will have to dine there to try out other dishes. Like what people said, “Seeing is believing” but on this matter, “Tasting is believing”. Hahaha!

Chicken Wings with Sweet Sauce

The operation hours is from 3.00 pm to 12.00 pm. Have a nice day yeah?

p/s: They serve beer too.

Team Building at Permai Rainforest Resort

I’ve not been to Permai Rainforest Resort for many years. But, visiting this place once again was something I looked forward to. Coincidentally, our school decided to have our Team Building activity here in which, all expenses were paid in advanced. So, I had no clue of the actual cost for staying overnight here, including the meals and activities.

I always loved the walkway, made of Belian wooden planks. Nothing can beat the wood because it can last up to hundred years. Long ago, Belian was the most important construction material for the Dayaks who made longhouses in the remote areas of Sarawak. Since it’s a rare species now, the tree could not be simply chopped down by loggers.

I had to walk quite a distant to my chalet from the registration counter. Each chalet could accommodate 6 persons, equipped with 1 bathroom, a mini fridge, a water heater, towels for six, 2 bars of soap, 2 cabinets and 6 complimentary drinking water bottles. But don’t look for  air-conditioners and televisions. Hehe…

Our first activity was Kayaking. I liked the way they handled it because it was professionally done. Before going to the sea, they briefed us on the safety issue, we were taught on how to wear a life jacket and they asked us to participate in the  water confident crash course.  It wasn’t really that bad for me because I knew swimming and attended a full packaged of sea safety training a few years back.

But mind you, I’m a person who got seasick easily. After few hours of kayaking, it was time for a tea break. We had a simple meal at The Feeding Tree cafe and I had 6 curry puffs with a cup of tea.

Not enough playing in the sea, we headed to the pool for a mindless volleyball game. There wasn’t any proper rules, nor there was a referee. We just passed and smashed the ball everywhere we liked and finally laughed our hearts out till tears dropped to our cheeks.

The night activity was a bit relaxing. We had BBQ at The Feeding Tree cafe. We wanted to have a Karaoke session there, but then, we were not willing to pay RM400 for it. So, after 10 pm, nine of us decided to drive out to New Semariang township for a late night supper.

The next day, we wrapped up everything at Sepang Room. Our principal gave us a pep talk. I really enjoyed the team building activity, as I got to know my colleagues better and surely after this, we could work better as a team. Fly Kenyalang Fly! hahahahaha!
